We are an organized voice for UCC Professional Chaplains and Counselors seeking to support and encourage one another in Christ's ministry and working to support the ministries of the United Church of Christ. Our work is supported by the Council for Health and Human Service Ministries (CHHSM). We are grateful to them for providing us with office support and fiscal guidance. We are also supported by the UCC and meet annually with the leadership at the Church House. Members of the UCC-PCC receive the UCC Desk Calendar and Plan Book.

The UCC/PCC is designated as a recognized group by the General Synod. This permits us to have two delegates with voice but not vote at General Synod meetings. We have an exhibit booth about the UCC/PCC at General Synod meeting and at the yearly CHHSM conference.

The UCC Professional Chaplains and Counselors was organized in 1983 for the following purposes:

1) Fellowship - Enhance the relationship among chaplains to provide a foundation for greater collegiality.

2) Identity - To sharpen our identity within the UCC.

3) Development - To grow professionally in effectiveness.

4) Communication - To increase dialogue with peers, agencies, denominational staff persons and cognate groups regarding institutional health care chaplaincy.

Our annual meeting is held each year in conjunction with the Association of Professional Chaplains Annual Meeting. The meeting includes a breakfast, a business meeting, an award presentation and informal sharing.
